1 cup whole cranberries
1 1/2 cups chopped peeled apples (Granny Smith are a good choice to make it tart)
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 cup oatmeal
2/3 cup flour
Combine the cranberries, apples and sugar in a casserole dish. Mix the nuts, brown sugar, butter, oatmeal and flour, then pat this mixture into the dish. Note that this will be like a moist paste; you can add a tablespoon or so of water if the mixture is too dry.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
